A ONE-DAY TRAVEL ADVENTURE WITH FRANCES PARNELL

Let’s get to know our neighbors to the south! 

 

Plan to meet the Old Wilmington Trolley at Hanover Center on Oleander Drive at 8:00 AM and begin a guided tour as we travel to Southport. There, we will embark upon the Bald Head Island Ferry for our Cape Fear River crossing from Deep Point Marina, to the shores of Bald Head Island.

The Bald Head Island Trolley and our island guides will pick us up at the ferry landing and begin a two-hour historic tour of the island to include the Old Baldy Lighthouse (built in 1817) and Museum. We will enjoy lunch at one of the island restaurants and we will depart the island on the 2:30 PM ferry. Upon our return to Southport, our guide will give us a historic tour of that town. We should return to Hanover Center between 5:30 and 6:30 PM.
